Professional Experience:

IT Project Manager, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Richland, WA (2006 to 2019) 

Led project management and project controls staff assigned to the Molecular Sciences Computing (MSC) operations and the National Security Directorate (NSD). Trained, coached, and mentored staff in project management and project controls requirements, processes, and systems. Developed new business opportunities while providing strategic guidance to assist NSD Project Management Office Directors, Project Managers, Line Managers, and Sector Managers in meeting their organizational and programmatic objectives. Led project management activities of various crucial lab level projects. 

  • Directly contributed towards the development and promotion of six direct reports. 
  • Deployed Energy Exascale Earth System (E3SM) resource, simulating the fully coupled Earth system at high-resolution and incorporating coupling with energy, water, land-use and related energy-relevant activities, with a focus on near-term hind-casts (1970-2015) for model validation and a near-term projection (2015-2050) as needed for energy sector planning. 
  • Worked to ensure the team remained customer focused, delivered high-quality products and services, and remained proactive, results oriented, and successful.  

IT Project Lead, PNNL, Richland, WA (2004 to 2006) 

Delivered leadership to the Remote Web Access team responsible for managing the Application firewall, forward proxy, reverse proxy, and authentication / authorization services. 

  • Implemented High Availability for SiteMinder Policy Servers, Policy Stores, and authentication servers to dramatically improve user satisfaction with the Web Single Sign On service. 
  • Implemented the NetContinuum web application firewall and redundancy, increasing web server availability, reliability, and security while protecting web servers from malicious attacks, SQL Injection attacks, and scripted attacks. 
  • Worked with SCINet wireless and security teams at SuperComputing 2004, to detect rogue access points and track down compromised computer systems. 
  • Deployed High Performance Computing System 2 (HPCS2) resource for Environmental Molecular Science Laboratory (#4 on top 500 that year).
